Lanzarote is a beautiful isle situated on the eastern side of the Canary Islands. The mild climate that is bestowed in the island all the year round makes the place a perfect holiday destination. Like any other Canary Island, this place is also a volcanic origin. The whole landscape of the place seems like a place from outer space with small active volcanoes and dry stone formations around.

The Caves of Los Verdes

These caves were formed during the Corona Volcano eruption some 3000 years ago. Inside the caves there is a long tunnel, which is the longest in the world. The tunnel is about 7m long. There is wax like rocks which melts inside the cave. In the cave, it has a very impressive view with colorful lights artificially fixed for the public.

The Cactus Garden

The Cactus garden, which was designed by a famous Lanzarote artist, has a large collection of cacti. These 1000 species of rare varieties of cactus were specially picked by the botanist Estanislao Gonzales Ferrer. In the garden itself, there is a restored windmill and some metal sculptures making the garden look more impressive.

El Golfo

This volcanic semi circle crater is filled with sea water resulting from the filtration of the sea water through the black sand. This lagoon is separated from the sea by the black sand itself.

The water is green in color because of the algae living there. The whole setting of color of the water and the black sand makes a very spectacular view.

Activities in the island

There are numbers of activities available on the island. Whether you want to go on an excursion or go diving, you can have an ample number of choices.
The island is blessed with a number of beautiful beaches set against the black stone hills and crystal clear waters. The beaches of Lanzarotte is laden with many sand varieties, consisting of the white sands in the northern side to the golden sands in Puerto del Carmen to the black sands in Playa Quemada.

On these beaches you will find a number of beach resorts, villas, and apartments for accommodations. There are also many water sports activities that are loaded on the beaches. The island has a surfing point in Famara and it quite famous.

If you want to go out for fishing games, than the island can offer you one of the most exciting fishing games. You only have to get a permit from the local authorities for this activity.

Lanzarote can offer you many shopping areas. You can find a modern mall as well as a local market where you will get hand made products. You can shop around and eat out at the restaurants along side and try out the local cuisines.
